Ermita y fortaleza de A Lanzada

It is a simple rectangular building, with few adornments, among which stands out a unique rose window. The Tower was built at the end of the tenth century, and was part of a castle built on the remains of an old Phoenician lighthouse that aimed to defend against the Viking and Norse invasions that ravaged this area of Galicia. The defensive system was to make bonfires in the tower to warn of the presence of the enemy. These were seen from the Tower of San Sadurniño (Cambados) that warned in the same way to those of Catoira, and so on to Santiago de Compostela.
